Commercial Smoke Filter F.A.Q - (Frequently Asked Questions:)
How do I know what size to order:
The machine should be marked with a label indicating the SRS Model number or
the Pollution Research Model number. Not sure? Give us a call at
toll free 1-888-472-8736.
How often should I change the filters?
In a commercial environment like a bar, restaurant, billiards parlor, bingo
hall, arcade or casino, you will want to change the filters on this schedule:
Pre-filter:
You get 12 with the machine and in an annual filter kit. Change the
pre-filter every month. This is the thin white or blue filter
closest to the intake where the smoke is sucked in.
Carbon filter:
You get 6 of these. Change the carbon filter every two months.
This is the heavier carbon filter behind the pre-filter.
HEPA filter:
You get one of these. Change the HEPA annually. It is best to
order your next annual filter kit when you put in your last carbon filter.
Due to volume, it can take 3-4 weeks for filter orders to be received.
Order early to avoid waiting.
If the smoke level is really light or this is used
infrequently in a home garage for poker parties just once a week, you can
lengthen the time between filter changes as needed. All commercial
establishments should follow the schedule noted above.
How do I know when to change the filter?
The pre-filter will load up pretty quickly with dust and smoke particles.
Best bet is to put the change on a calendar. Really heavy smoking
environments may require changing the prefilter more often. A visual check
of the pre-filter will tell you if it's totally loaded or not.
What happens if I don't change the filter often enough.
Two things:
- The performance of your system will suffer. A clogged filter won't allow air to flow, thus lowering the number of times per hour you can circulate and clean the air.
- Really bad maintenance can cause your smoke eater to fail and blow out the motor. Save yourself the headache and change the filter on the first of the month when you pay your rent or mortgage. Make it a habit and your equipment, staff and customers will thank you for the cleaner air. Lastly, if you don't change the carbon filter often enough, it will eventually reach a saturation point and stop absorbing gases, fumes and odors.
Can I Clean the Filters to lengthen the life?
No, there is no effective way to clean these filters.
